ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

CHURCHILL

Romeo’s time honoured star size, this is an icon. The vitola dates from the early 20th century. Churchill permitted his name to be used on it from the mid 1950s. Imposing, statesmanlike; a commanding size that rewards the smoker with richly developing flavours.

Tasting Notes

The aroma is beautiful, and the construction and burn were flawless. The intoxicating and decadent vanilla and cream combination is the most unforgettable. One hell of a smoke.

95 / 100

"A cigar of not only exceptional balance, but dimension, as it unfolds layer after layer of nougat, almond paste and honey all atop a rich, woody core. A floral undertone is pleasant and subtle..."

As I look at this Churchill I see the cigar of the Gods. A smooth oily dark cigar that smokes itself. Easy to light beautiful silver smoke rising upward as if it is an offering to a higher being. This is truly one of the special times in our lives when we can relax and enjoy life. Please thak the time to enjoy one of these yourself and you will see what I mean. written by Keith

I havent had many Cuban cigars, but Ive had my fair share. But this one is the best I have had so far. The previous reviewer is right -- this is a smoke for those who like the milder bodied Cuban. It has great flavor, though, and I just loved it from end to end. Goes great with white wine, but this is a cigar that needs no chaser. I recommend it highly. A Five Star Smoke! written by GES

What a fantastic smoke! When I opened the box there was an earthy aroma that just seemed to creep out and tease you. Wonderful construction was highlighted by a dark/oily wrapper. I wasnt sure if I should eat it or smoke it! The smoke is a rich blend nuts, coffee, and a long earthy finish. The only draw back to this cigar is a rather tight draw. written by Michael
