ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

CHURCHILL

Romeo’s time honoured star size, this is an icon. The vitola dates from the early 20th century. Churchill permitted his name to be used on it from the mid 1950s. Imposing, statesmanlike; a commanding size that rewards the smoker with richly developing flavours.

Tasting Notes

The aroma is beautiful, and the construction and burn were flawless. The intoxicating and decadent vanilla and cream combination is the most unforgettable. One hell of a smoke.

"A cigar of not only exceptional balance, but dimension, as it unfolds layer after layer of nougat, almond paste and honey all atop a rich, woody core. A floral undertone is pleasant and subtle..."

I did not purchase this cigar from C. Gars as it was gifted to me, the experience is my own and was enjoyable. This review will be posted on the other Churchill bands as the flavour remains the same but the novelty cigar band is the only thing that differs. The Romeo y Julieta Churchill is one of those cigars that instantly feels special from the moment you pick it up. For someone like me still building experience, this cigar set a new benchmark for what a refined, classic Cuban should deliver. It’s beautifully constructed—firm, smooth, and fragrant before lighting. On the cold draw, I got soft notes of cedar, earth, and a hint of sweetness. Once lit, the first third opened with that signature Romeo y Julieta creaminess, layered with mild spice and wood. The smoke was smooth and aromatic, never harsh, and the draw was perfectly balanced. As it developed, gentle floral and nutty tones appeared, with moments of cocoa and toasted almond weaving in. The burn line was impressively even throughout, showing the kind of craftsmanship the brand is known for. By the final third, the flavors deepened but stayed elegant—more earth, spice, and roasted coffee, finishing on a creamy, satisfying note. The overall experience felt timeless and balanced from start to finish. The Churchill isn’t just a cigar—it’s an education in smoothness and structure. For me, it’s one of the most complete Cubans I’ve tried so far: refined, aromatic, and deeply enjoyable. Rating: 9/10

I cannot add anything new here. Just to emphasise the overall excellence of this cigar in every way. In my humble opinion the epitome of smoking, my all-time favourite. Now, where's my wallet?

Im by no means an expert, but Ive tried many cigars within this price range, and this was by far the best quality cigar Ive had for this price. Definitely worth trying.

I love this cigar but I’m bitterly disappointed that it has been sent by Cgars with the binder cracked and coming apart. The packaging was fine so it was clearly packed like this. Expected more when paying this much for a nice Churchill.

Not sure my review is even needed for these babies. The best thing men ever invented with sports gambling. No wonder Sir WC won the war against the nazis puffing on these.
