Named after William Shakespeare's tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Habano date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don 'Pepin' Rodriguez, a talented promoter, who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his hey day no less than 20,000 different bands were used in production.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand. Following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band but it has also served to describe the marque's most famous size - Romeo y Julieta Churchill.

The 21st century has seen the arrival of two additional sizes using the name. The first called Short Churchill, a robusto size that had been missing from the range, was added in 2006. The second launched as the 21st Festival del Habano in 2010, was Wide Churchills, which boasts a 55 ring gauge to mark the trend amongst enthusiasts for stouter girth vitolas.

Romeo y Julieta's balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Habano.

Today Romeo y Julieta is well known around the world as ever and offers the widest range of long filler sizes in any Habano brand.

This was my first Cuban cigar and it's a good gentle introduction to cigars for me. Second time round trying this, and enjoyed it again. Light to medium flavours throughout are sweet, woody, some creaminess and hints of white pepper.


First ever cigar and highly enjoyable. Sweet and creamy with an excellent draw. Would recommend to non-smokers and experienced smokers alike. Still my favorite and the best way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon with a nice single malt. I would just like to add the service from cgarsltd.co.uk is second to none, swift delivery, knowledgeable reviews and fair prices, genuinely a pleasure to deal with.


I hadnt tried one for a very long time, so it was a nice surprise when my mate took a couple out to review. As we say in the attached video...They are a very interesting Cigar, the opening was like a Chocolate Orange (terrys) Smokey like a Smoking Kiln for Fish, Peaty, Cedary Tobacco,Stamp Gum. we smoked this along with a 6.5% beer and a Port Not the type of Cigar I'd smoke every day but great as a contrast. Smoked my first last night and it was delightful. Lots of lovely mouthfuls of sweet fragrant smoke. Perfect burn throughout. No hotness right up to the last inch when I left it to go out gracefully. Half way into the cigar, I got a creaminess and a touch of pepper. This cigar was from a friend's humidor, but I will definitely be buying some.


Well this is my second RyJ Cedros No.3 from a second order and it will be my last I honestly believe that they put the cedar wrap on the cigar to disguise the ugliness and vainy wrapper hardly much different to the Guantanamera Cristales i smoke and enjoy regularly I expected more from RyJ so to continue and having taken the cedar wrapper off found the cigar very solid in fact too solid I clipped the cigar with my Xikar cutter and then toasted and lit the cigar , It was very hard to draw and took all the pleasure out of smoking it, the smoke and flavours were lovely then the uneven burning started again, I smoked the cigar for over an hour but never became any easier to draw so was virtually exhausted at the end, never again, and really putting me off the RyJ brand as the Churchill my wife bought me for my birthday was a pain to, Going back to my Staple but lovely Cristales and ordered a Monty No.4 the world most popular Cuban and also a Por Larranaga Petit Corona looking for a cigar thats a good smoke strait away and with the potential for ageing when I get Adorini Humidor

