ROMEO Y JULIETA

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Havana date back to 1875.

The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, a talented promoter who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his heyday no less than 20,000 different bands were used in the production of cigars.

Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand and following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band, but it has also served to describe the marque’s most famous size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Romeo y Julieta’s balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone make it the classic medium bodied Havana.

Today Romeo y Julieta is as well known around the world as ever and offers one of the widest range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade – sizes of any Havana brand.

CAZADORES

A Lonsdales size, more or less, presented in bundles wrapped in silver foil. The name translates as 'Hunters'.

Tasting Notes

A slow-smoking Habano with a great potency in terms of its flavour, although it has a very smooth aroma. Dark, rustic, no nonsense cigar. Black pepper spices pounds away at your palate with abandon.

----

87 / 100

"Every puff of this dark, slim cigar layers the palate in a dense, chewy smoke. It’s full of big, rich notes of malted chocolate and hickory, but accented with more delicate hints of tea. A profoundly precise caramel note lingers on the luxurious finish..."

The Cazadores are supposed to be the poorer relation in the R&J family, especially next to the Chuchills, which have to be my all time favourite cigar ever. However, they still provide a very enjoyable, respectable smoke, for a more economic outlay than the much larger Churchills. True, the full flavour doesnt really get going until the 2nd third but for a quality, easy smoke I have found them very satisfying. These are a quality 45 min - 1 hour smoke - the Churchills a luxury smoke. Also, if I was in the habit of wearing a hat, Id doff it to CGars for their service. I ordered these yesterday via the 4 - 5 working days free delivery option and the Postman was ringing the doorbell at 9 this morning with an unexpected package ! Congratulations to CGars for unbeatable service and a very fine stock of cigars

these are supposed to be inferior cigars within this brand name but i was pleasantly suprised. mine lit easily then, with a nice draw and even burn, lasted over an hour. the flavour was pleasant without being earth moving and only began to taste bitter towards the last inch or so. i'd definitely smoke one again. written by colin

Very nice flavour, however, construction could have been a bit better as the wrapper seemed a big fragile. Very good value for money, Well worth a try. I will buy again. written by Adam Cheal
