I got this to see what the regius smokes were like as they seemed like great value but I would rather spend more on quality and smoke less than buy king Edwards! I often see posts about smoke time saying they got 30 mins on a cigar that I get an hour on and then complain about the taste being bland etc. This cigar, like most cigars, rewards patience.
If you are taking a hearty full draw and don’t leave time for the cherry to cool down, the difference is like night and day. Now I know the majority of people reading this will say ‘well, duh!’, but the reason I mention it is the smoke times on this site given by cgars is often way too low. Davidoff do it too on their materials, so on the off chance you are here to say this was disappointing, buy another and smoke it slowly. It should last an hour or more, that is when the flavours come out. If you rush it, the bitter tastes cloud the great subtle flavours. For the price, this is a phenomenal cigar. One of the very best cigars I have ever smoked and it only had 3 days in the humidor after delivery. I couldnÂ’t wait, it looks like a delicious bar of dark chocolate. 60 ring gage is about as wide as I go but this was very comfortable to smoke. The flavours are very complex, the retrohale is just amazing. This cigar rewards patience. I like to take long, deep draws of my cigars so it behooves me to wait a couple of minutes between draws so the tobacco does not overheat. On this cigar it matters more than any other. If you smoke this too fast you will get pleasant but unremarkable flavours, still a good cigar but not note worthy. But if you treat it gently this will be your opus. It is hard though, when you have an awesome draw you want to experience it again straight away. I have got to buy a box of these, see how much better they get when they rest and smoke them in conversation, so I donÂ’t have to sit there like a junkie waiting for his fix for 2 mins every time I draw on it!!!

Lovely mild cigar, construction was perfect lovely draw and for me ( not a fast smoker)over an hour of enjoyable smoking. I dont shop in the expensive range so this will be a regular for me. I paired it with a Jura 10yr old seemed to work well.

This cigar started sweet, with a little bit of nice pepper. Its obviously very thick (needed Mitchells recommended 80 gauge cutter) and gives off lots of smoke at rest. Initially I felt it needed a double puff to get a good mouthful of tasty smoke. Very enjoyable and held an impressive quantity of ash - almost 1/3 of the cigar before I lost my nerve and encouraged it to drop. A little bit of uneven burn, easily and pleasantly managed as it gives an accompanying release of sweetness from the wrapper with every touchup. A little bit hot and squishy in the last 3cm, but nothing to mark it down.

This was a bit disappointing after reading the great reviews and knowing how respected the brand is. The burn was uneven and the draw inconsistent, needed re-lighting a few times. I did get some varying flavours, hints of sweetness, reminded me of the Jose L Piedra, but by the final third I had given up. My cigar box has been at 69% so quite high if that has anything to do with it, I might lower the humidity. Worth noting anyway. If youre looking for a budget Cuban Id suggest saving some pocket change and going for the Jose Brevas.
