Bolivar Belicosos Finos Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Friday 03 June, 2016
Reviewed by Robert Reitzfeld (September 2000) The package arrived on a wet Wednesday morning. The New York Yankees had just lost to the Boston Red Sox and I needed something to cheer me up. I knew who the package was from, but not what it contained. To my delight, upon opening, I found 3 gorgeous Bolivar Belicosos Finos. I immediately placed them in my humidor and began to anticipate enjoying them and writing about the experience. Before starting, I thought to look at what other reviewers had to say about this particular cigar. What I found was confusing and contradictory. Cigar Aficionado had rated the 5 1/2 x 52 Figurado an 89. Not bad, but not great for a Cuban. None of the reviewers I read could make up their minds, and comments were all over the place. For instance: *Earth & leather notes. *Creamy. Peppery bite. *Strong but temperate. *Spicy but not harsh. *Light to medium body with little depth, body or spice. *More strength than flavor. *Very nice coffee richness. *Dark leather & spice. etc. etc. I could tell I had my work cut out for me. In all my

Reviewed by Roger Safian (May 2003) Let me tell you about my current favorite cigar. It's the Bolivar Belicosos Finos - Cabinet. This is a beautiful cigar, that is about 5.5 inches with a 52 ring gauge. The wrapper has a wonderful oily sheen, that highlight the slight toothy-ness of the cigar. To me, this represents the classic cigar. A torpedo shaped delight that emits clouds of wonderful smelling smoke. It reminds me very much of the classic cigar smoking hero in the movies. The cigar's construction is perfect, with a cap that clips nicely. The pre-draw is excellent. Firm yet you don't have to force the air through the cigar. I light the cigar, and lean back and relax. The flavors are wonderful. As the cigar burns the oils glisten on the wrapper before they are consumed in the next puff. A friend recently described smoking this cigar as an almost religious experience, and I would have to agree. You won't want this to finish, and you will find yourself smoking it until your fingers can't hold the nub anymore. When it does end, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that y

Trinidad Reyes Cigar - 1 Single

Smoked one of these last week, and must say I think I found my new favourite afternoon/lunchtime smoke. It went down a treat with some strong Italian coffee, sitting on the patio basking in the very warm sun. It was beautifully rounded little cigar with definite coffee and mild sweetness to the flavour. I will most certainly be ordering more.

Beautiful construction, although I frayed the wrapper a bit removing the band. Burn was fairly even and the draw perfect. This starts out spicy and woody and then develops smooth creaminess in the second third, with great coffee notes, and this seemed to persist through the final third. I'm glad I've got another for the humidor; it might need some friends!

I tried a box of these based on the very positive reviews here, and was NOT disappointed.Smooth, nice draw, good flavours, clean tasting, but nutty, earhy, woody, too,I thought--flavoursome,but not at all overpowering, certainly not bitter. If this is an example of Fillipino cigar manufacture, book me my ticket to Manilla now,I'm off on my holidays there! After a memorably awful Rafael Gonzalez, this is a breath of fresh air--er.smoke--oh,you know what I mean!

Trinidad Reyes Cigar - Cabinet of 12

Gorgeous I was introduced to these a year ago on a trip to Amsterdam, I was after a full bodied cigar, roughly half an hour smoke and not going to knock you sideways with a nicotine hit. Pretty much fits the bill; the full body it is smooth with a good rich creamy characteristic. Don't know much about nutmegs and vanilla and all the other descriptions, just full body smooth smoke. The smoke gets better all the way down becoming more and more complex in flavours which to me is a typical characteristics of a good Cuban cigar. They are a bit tight on the draw but burn beautifully giving a good tight grey ash which is evenly burnt all the way. I only needed to re light towards the end and that was because I was being greedy, this was not going to waste. All cigars are consistent, there are not better or worse cigars in the pack so quality control is top notch. I prefer these out of the humidor at around 77% humidity, they will age nicely but with me no chance they are not going to last.
