Mitchellero Corona Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Monday 21 June, 2021
I have to agree with PeterÂ’s review here. I wholeheartedly recommend leaving these in your humidor before having a smoke. The flavours are fine after theyÂ’ve settled a bit longer. ItÂ’s not a bad budget smoke, I personally prefer the Novellini, but I like a heavy gauge. I got an hour from this cigar. I got a nice cedar flavour. The con is the longer the cigar, the wrapper seems to be thinner. I had a few cracks in mine on a 69% humidity, whereas my other MitchelleroÂ’s are fab. I love the size, the taste, the length and the price. My one con is the wrapper is stretched too, too thin here. Saying that, what do you expect for four quid? Money does always buy quality, a lot of the time cheapness can result in cheap flavour and bad construction. My view is, go for the Novellini. Maybe I got a bad cigar, it happens. But I still enjoyed this cigar immensely and the price is right. ItÂ’s an even burn, I got a clean cut and good ash that held. Good smoke. 4/5 from me.

A touch up to my review of June 18th: I was VERY happily surprised to receive an E-mail from Hayley at CGars offering me help with plugged/tight Cuban cigars that took me by surprise :) You just dont get this kind of customer service these days! Anyway, Ive binned a good few of No.4s (and a few others but mostly Cubans) , over the years. from many different retailers NOT just CGars so its not this companys fault by any means! But Ive recently picked up a tip on the Net that Id thought counterintuitive but tried it: A plug is different, I cant say Ive tried that yet , but for a tight cigar, seal it up in a zip lock bag and chuck it the fridge overnight, youll be amazed! I hasnt failed me yet, no they dont puff perfectly but well enough to not throw it away and no matter how many gadgets I buy they never really work, the fridge does, and we all have one anyway. No, I cant figure out the physics of it, the bag for the odour, yes, but cold? Maybe contracts the filler ? Binder? I just dont know but it seems to work and has saved me a good few cigars (and money) recently. CGars customer

Such a shame; the No. 4 was my re-introduction to cigars about 7 or 8 years ago when I quit smoking, all of a sudden I could afford a good cigar ! My son bought me a humidor for X-mas and off I went, maybe I was just lucky but my first two or three boxes of 10 were fabulous and I only dabbled in NW cigars. Then the plugging started, even in 5 boxes Id get at least one um-smokable, in the 10s 2 or 3. I left it a few years, maybe, I thought, maybe theyd had a bad harvest or two or so then last month bought a box of 10, first 2 were lovely, 3rd was tight as hell in the last 3rd, but I didnt get to the last third (I could feel where it was so tight)Ive clipped it and looking around the net, put in a zip and in the fridge, you never know. Wont be buying again, we pay so much Tax in the UK this could make it unaffordable, Im not kidding, almost £15 to throw it away? No. Ive counted the 10 boxes, Ive kept most of them and there are 9 probably more in the bin over the years, you cant keep everything! I cant count the NWs Ive smoked, not ONE plug, really, Im sad, old fashioned and keep a

Beautiful smoke! I normally prefer the chunky cigars but this one was great for a light midweek smoke. It burned with a lovely consistency and not too much of a kick. Quite mild indact. I would definitely get one if these again. I love the montecristos and this is no exception.

So my review reflects the quality of the cigar build as well as the smoke. To the latter, it looked tightly rolled but actually drew really well, the ash held all the way down and it was moslty pleasant. Actually far better than the davidoff WC traveller belicoso (which unlike every other davidoff i’ve had, was bland). So for smoke and price undoubtedly great value. However this cigar had bloomed (is that the right word) at the end like it had dried out and rehydrated. Also the wrapper is wafer thin so when smoking it cracked down the length which ruined the final half. This was due to condition on arrival and if this example had been offered in a shop i would have swapped it out, i guess thats the downside of mail order but i do feel it was obvious this example was poor quality and should have been rejected. Cant comment as to whether this is typical , but i see the boxes are being promoted so someone else can advise. My score reflects my actual experience rather than what could have been.

As others has mentioned sadly mine came split and losing its outside wrapper a little. However it was a fine smoke. The first third was a light pepper taste and fairly mild, the second third picked up the pace and brought in those leathery notes and a slightly stronger pepper, also started to get creamy smoke at this point. The final third was a medium smoke and very peppery but still felt smooth on the palette. I actually really enjoyed this cigar for the price, just a shame it was split.
