Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Tuesday 15 October, 2013
Will be buying again, im new to cigar smoking so thought this may be a good starting point. They are well constructed and low maintaince when lit. The ash holds for 2inches+. The flavours start out mild and creamywith a hint of sweetness. Then develops into a more complex smoke full of light leathery notes and sweet cedar. The final third improves on this and a sweet salty caramel flavour coats the inside of your mouth. I smoked it right down to the last inch and was very reluctant to stubb it when it started burning my lips

Can't be faulted on flavour, this was delicious and smoked right down to the nub. However the burn was uneven and this doesn't feel like great value given it's size.

Sitting here in the quiet of a lovely evening I finally took out this cigar from a 3 month stint in my humidor and dedicated some quality time to this great cigar. Not a beast of a double or a Churchill but still a suitable size and gauge for some well spent herfing. At first I was a little surprised by the harshness but settling in it transitioned into a wonderfully mellow smoke, easy draw and plentiful white fragrant smoke. Excellent construction and burn, though the ash dropped after less than an inch little flowering and not a single burn issue. In my opinion will only get better with some age to it. The final third is a pleasure and am reluctant to put it down. Soft, mellow and worth every penny. Would I buy again, you bet, but as a box so I can pop them away for a bit and dream of another day when I can sit back with the sun shining and time to dedicate to it. Thankfully still two more maturing away so will have to wait before I can justify to myself to buy again, what a pity..

it probably needs some ageing or something, Im new to ageing cigars, and I haven't had this one that long since i bought it from cgars but, the draw was too airy and hardly any flavour. Draw did pick up in final third though and so did the flavour once i nubbed it. but over all slightly disappointing.
