Backwoods Purple Cigars - Pack of 5
Date Added: Wednesday 26 July, 2023
Well I love the smaller cigar and flavored cigars so it was only a matter of time until I tried one of the BACKWOOD cigars. The first thing that hits you is the smell of the cigars which is strong but good and fresh. They are a scruffy cigar and not the neat smooth cigar most will smoke which is why they are quite endearing. I put mine in the Humidor for about two weeks and let them settle and I must admit - what a smoke. Firstly the smell of the cigar drops so it is not so in your face, the taste in the mouth is not that strong a cherry at all but a lovely mild flavor and very pleasant. Not a strong cigar at all and I have to say it smoked well, even and held the ash well. Those around me commented on the smell of the cigar being very enjoyable and it lasted about 45 mins. Sweet on the lips, good flavor, not strong and a good smoke....... what is not to enjoy. To be honest I did trim the ends when lighting as the rough loose end looked nice but I prefer a neat end to light a cigar with :-)

Really enjoyed this. Full, strong flavour from start to finish with a really decent construction. Loads of smoke and a near perfect burn. If you like a strong cigar, you cannot go wrong here at this price point. I picked up earthy and peppery tastes throughout but it wasnt too woody. For me it was spot on and remained consistent from start to finish. I wouldnt hesitate to have a few more of these in the humidor, Im very impressed.

This is one of my go to cigars for quality and reliability. Nice size, smokes lovely with a nice minty/menthol taste, and woody notes. 5*

Brick House Double Connecticut Corona Larga Cigar - 1 Single

This is a very good quality and very good value cigar. It is a smooth and balanced cigar that lacks the last bit of complexity. I am afraid that I am mostly using my review as a rant around the notion that “beginners” need a light cigar and then more sophisticated, more experienced smokers want something bigger, richer, stronger bla bla bla. This is utterly ludicrous. Implicit in this is the notion that some big greasy dark cigar is more “advanced” or sophisticated or grown up than a Quai d’Orsay. Or by an analogy to wine, if you like a delicate Grand Cru Burgundy you are less advanced or sophisticated than someone who likes a Barossa Valley Shiraz. Rant over.

This was really disappointing. Really tight draw and had to keep relighting. Lips began to burn very early in amd genuinely regretted this one.

I found the draw very easy and the whole experience very pleasant. Very fine cigar. Slightly floral flavour, enjoyed with a fine Greek Metaxa brandy. Nutty and buttery notes into the second third. Lovely creamy flavour throughout too. Recommend this offering from Bolivar!
