REGIUS

The Latin Regius denotes of a ‘King’. We present you a regal smoking experience: to enjoy a hand-made King of Cigars. Gaius Petronius Arbiter (AD27) was a Roman writer and courtier for Emperor Nero who devoted himself to a life of pleasure. Yet far from being an ordinary, vulgar profligate, he became known as an accomplished voluptuary.

Showing capacity for outrageous indulgence, he was looked upon by Nero to be the absolute authority on questions of taste (arbiter elegantiae), especially with the science of alchemy.

In his memory the superb brand of cigars ‘Regius’ was created. The alchemy of cultivating and blending the finest aged tobacco to achieve the best possible taste, an even burning quality and elegant aromas.

We invite you to be arbiter elegantiae, the judge of elegance, of the beautifully hand crafted and flavoursome creations that are Regius Cigars.

Ourmost popular Nicaraguan range of cigars, exclusive to C.Gars Ltd and Turmeaus

The Regius Orchant Selección Nicaragua Robusto was a cigar made even more memorable by the company in which it was enjoyed. Having the opportunity to smoke it alongside Akhil Kapacee, at the C Gars Leeds sampler event, added an extra dimension to the experience. He came across as a humble, down-to-earth, and light-hearted individual whose genuine passion for cigars was immediately obvious. Rather than focusing on prestige or exclusivity, he spoke enthusiastically about introducing quality cigars to as wide an audience as possible, and that enthusiasm was infectious. The cigar itself, taken from a box of 10, was equally enjoyable. On the cold draw, I picked up notes of cedar, earth, and a subtle natural sweetness. Once lit, it produced thick, creamy smoke with an effortless draw and an even burn that required very little attention. The opening third delivered flavours of toasted wood, soft peppery notes and roasted nuts, creating a balanced medium-bodied profile that was approachable without lacking character. As the cigar progressed, richer notes of cocoa, leather, and coffee began to emerge, accompanied by a gentle sweetness that tied everything together. The transitions were gradual rather than dramatic, making for a relaxing and consistent smoking experience. Construction remained excellent throughout, with a firm ash and a straight burn line from start to finish. Looking back, it's difficult to separate the quality of the cigar from the occasion itself. Sharing it with someone so clearly invested in both the craft of cigar making and the enjoyment of those smoking them made the experience all the more rewarding. The Regius Orchant Selección Nicaragua Robusto is a well-balanced, well-constructed cigar that offers plenty of flavour without becoming overpowering, and it's one I would happily revisit.

Great cigar, held ash for three quarters of the cigar and had an excellent finish. Nice taste that started off as nutty and then moved more towards coffee after halfway however I could not find any chocolate hints to it. Lasted about thirty minutes and didn’t have to relight once, full cut and no real pull to keep a nice flow on the intake with a good finish amount of smoke. Had this with a black coffee in the late afternoon on a summers day and may have lasted longer with a different taste texture if I had V cut or just pricked a few smaller holes. Would buy again but with so much choice out there I’ll keep this as a favourite for now.

Received as a mystery £10 cigar. Single V cut gave a near perfect draw, plenty of thick white smoke with just a touch of resistance. Construction is nearly perfect, a bit of a wavy burn initially; however, after a minor correction it proceeded to burn perfectly straight. Wrapper is super oily and slick, filler is well packed and even. Body is a solid medium high, strength is pretty high too with a noticeable nicotine kick in the upper chest. Flavour profile is predominantly dry leather a d roasted nut alongside lots of very dark chocolate and cacao, some nice coffee notes emerged as it progressed alongside a very pleasant natural sweetness. Only real issue was excessive glue on the bands causing damage to the wrapper.

While the golden rule is never to compare, it’s hard not to hold this stick in high regard. Arriving as a standout selection in a mystery sampler, this 52-ring gauge Robustos impressed immediately with its seamless construction and oily wrapper. The cold draw offered a reassuring resistance, releasing distinct notes of rich cocoa and earth. Upon lighting, the first third delivered a profile dominated by soft, velvety chocolate. The burn line remained razor-sharp, producing a sturdy, stacking ash that spoke volumes about the quality of the roll. I paired this with a Tamdhu 18-Year-Old Sherry Cask; the dried fruit profile of the single malt complemented the cigar’s natural sweetness beautifully. While I encountered some unexpected harshness and a slight spike in strength during the second third, the transition into the final third saw the flavors settle back into a harmonious balance. For a smoke that easily yields a relaxing hour of complexity, the value proposition here is undeniable. Between the superb construction and the refined flavor transitions, this is a definitive five-star experience.
