#11 Best Cigar of 2018 - Cigar Aficionado

This brand owes its origin to the refined taste of the French market. Created in the 1970's, the name is taken from a well-known street in Paris beside the River Seine.

All Quai d'Orsay sizes are made with a light tasting blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone and its wrappers are mainly distinguished by their Claro (light brown) and Colorado Claro (mid brown) colours.

Tasting Notes

The flavours and aromas start off light which soon develops into sweet flavours of vanilla with a subtle nuttiness coating the palate. The smoke stays light throughout making the perfect morning smoke!

"...Created in the 1970s exclusively for the French market, the old Quai d'Orsay brand came in a handful of sizes and was considered a fairly mild to medium-bodied smoke. But the Cuban cigar monopoly recently launched a completely new Quai d'Orsay, transforming it from a regional cigar to a global brand. The bands and boxes were redesigned, the line was given two new sizes—thicker vitolas intended to appeal to a larger market—and the cigar was reblended, giving it more character. Now, the brand can be found all over the world, and we found the No. 54 to be quite remarkable. While today's Quai d'Orsay is different, it's still no powerhouse, but a subtle and refined Cuban cigar that's one part sweet and one part savory like a salted caramel praline..."

Got one of these in my monthly subscription. I never would have chosen this to purchase if it were my choice but will from now on. Build is great, aroma is superb and the taste also superb. Reminded me of toffee, coffee etc. Probably not what its meant to taste like but lovley anyway.

Beautiful. Thick gauge makes it a cool smoke and flavor palette is exactly to my taste, light and nutty, but its the herbiness that makes it stand out, left an almost minty aftertaste, very clean sensation. I dont think Ive smoked anything I liked more, this to me is on par with the luxury cigars at a better price point. Also I only left it for a month or so from receiving it—wondering what age might do to such a nice stick.

First let me thank Quai dOrsay so much for this unique cigar. mild body, the draw, burn, and constrection are amazing. Varied bouquet of Flavors, aromas, and after tastes.. Such as grassy, earthy, spring, sun,Vanilla, pomegranate, white grapes, raw almond, and powder thick smoke. I will make sure keeps a large number of these fancy sticks in my cigar humidors. Thank you so much C.GARS , Michelle Adler for all excellent choices and services.
