POR LARRANAGA

Por Larranaga is a brand with a long history. Founded in 1834, it enjoys a well earned reputation for its consistency and good presentation. Por Larrañaga cigars are handmade using long-filler tobacco leaves harvested from the world famous Pinar del Rio region of Cuba.

Globally the range includes cigars made using both the ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally hand made technique, and the ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ – short filler, totally handmade method, but in the UK only the former is offered.

PETIT CORONAS

For many years the standard bearer for Por Larranaga's regular range in the UK. It carries the brand's traditional colours well with its creamy, light to medium flavour.

Tasting Notes

One of the best Cuban Marevas of the cuban size. A great balance between quality and price, this cigar offers extremely good value. Medium taste, good aroma. One of the most appreciated cigars from this manufacturer.

"Almond is at the heart of this diminutive cigar, which also has a toasty quality enhanced by elements of honey, caramel and graham cracker. A piquant spice segues to a honey-like finish. It draws well, and the burn is mostly even...."

A fabulously mild to medium cigar for the beginner to Cuban cigars or for anyone who prefers a mild to medium smoke from the oldest Cuban cigar makers still in existence, So band on or off, this is a matter of your preference, if you want to remove the band DO NOT FORCE REMOVE THE BAND you will damage the wrapper and may cause the wrapper to unwrap, if the band will not slide off naturally wait until the cigar is warm and the glue holding the band has softened, When do I stop drawing? the answer is when you see wisps of smoke at the ash wrapper interface this tells you your mouth is full of smoke, How much of the cigar should i smoke? the answer is smoke the cigar until you don't like the taste anymore, the more of the cigar you smoke the more you are honoring the highly skilled person that made the cigar.

The 4 things you need to start you off on the right track in smoking cigars. (1) a good cigar, I would highly recommend the Por Larranaga Petit Corona, it is mild to medium with a lovely creamy taste and lasts about an hour (2) A good cigar cutter, the Xikar Xi series cutters are the best you can buy with twin self sharpening blades to provide a good clean cut every time, (3) A Natural flame to gently toast not roast your cigar foot then light, the Xikar Exodus natural flame wind resistant butane lighter is ideal and fabulous quality even comes with a polishing cloth to keep the lighter looking great, (4) A good humidor, I highly recommend the Adorini Deluxe range, the build quality of these himi's are superb, cedar lined which is slotted to both walls and base to provide better air circulation, the Adorini Deluxe humidifier uses state of the art acryl polymer fleece which reacts faster to climatic changes in the humidor and it has adjustable vents to reduce or increase humidity, and the Adorini Deluxe hair hygrometer is an highly accurate analog humidity measurer.

This is a lovely mild to medium cigar for the beginner new to smoking cigars, A bit of advice from a person who is still learning, Please light your cigars as gently as possible using a natural flame I highly recommend the Xikar Exodus natural flame butane lighter to toast not roast your cigars, alot of cigar smokers who have probably being smoking for years on youtube videos recommend a torch flame lighter but you really have to know what you are doing not to cremate the foot, I only use my Prometheus torch flame lighter to correct serious uneven burning issues now (Yes i bought one on the recommendations to) put the torch flame at 90dg to the ash and away from the wrapper then rotating the cigar gradually move the flame towards the uneven unburnt wrapper, as soon as the burn is even remove the flame being very careful not to burn the wrapper. so to sum up, be gentle, light gently, draw gently and respect your cigar.
