Cigar Journals cigar of the year 2020 & I was expecting to be amazed. Paired with Balvenie 14 year Caribbean Cask whisky on a beautiful sunny day. I was not wowed & do not think it’s worth it’s price tag personally, I’ve had much more complex cigars that have wowed at half the price. Love the Plasencia Alma Del Fuego, that’s far more complex & enjoyable. Brings into question for me the whole cigar of the year hype across all publications. On a plus though the construction can not be faulted brilliant ash build up & burn was even.

I will be hunting down more of these. Taste was fantastic, lots of deep notes with some nice sweetness in there. Burned for probably over an hour but I am a slow smoker. The construction was superb, really good looking ash that held on for a long time. Definitely one for a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Delicious pre draw with a lot of dried fruit character and hints of leather and cedar. Rather light flavour in the first half. Maintains the pre draw flavours all the way through to finish. Great construction and burn. Personally I found it to be quite light in flavour and strength all the way through.

Not quite the flavour bomb id expect from a full bodied Nicaraguan stogie... its more subtle and refined... probably down to the aged tobaccos used in the blend but none the less very nice. Perfect draw and construction on the ones ive sampled. Classy cigar.

An enjoyable robusto. Very dark flavours of wood, earth, cocoa powder, burnt leather and black pepper. A very slight hint of cream came and went. Not quite to my taste and I found the flavours overall a little dry and boring, though nothing bad or harsh. I prefer the Alma del Fuego, particularly the Flama, myself as it seems to have a little more liveliness and character.
