PLASENCIA

Plasencia Cigars, the leading producer of premium cigars and the largest producer of tobacco in Central America, was awarded 1st place in a consumer cigar blind tasting held by Manuel’s, one of the finest and most renowned cigar shops in Zürich, Switzerland. The award was conferred for its Alma del Campo Tribu cigar, one of the company's first brand name cigars to be introduced to the market.

Plasencias goal is to use the best leaves of aged tobacco exclusively in their cigars leaving them in the hands of the best collaborators in the fields and artists of the factories.

EDUARDO I

Eduardo Plasencia was the pioneer of the Plasencia tobacco family. He migrated from the Canary Islands to Cuba and started growing tobacco in 1865 and thus the Plasencia tobacco legacy was born. Today, the Plasencia tobacco family is in its 5th generation and the decision was made to create a vitola in homage, the Eduardo I.

The Colorado Claro wrapper which comes from the vast Plasencia tobacco library was aged for over 10 years, which results in a smoother smoking experience.

This is my 1st Plasencia cigar. Tasting notes for me are strong cedar, leather, slight salty earth. It gets a sweeter tones halfway through and light coffee tones. I would give it a light to medium rating for strength. I had this with Irish Powers Whisky John Lane 12 years old Edition. The Whisky overpowered this cigar. Good points: - Great construction and perfect burn. - Nice big 54 gauge box pressed cigar. Bad points: Easy draw but not a lot of smoke compared to other box pressed cigars from Oliva, EP Carillo etc. Not a lot of depth / change in the tasting notes as I progress through the cigar but it definitely picks up halfway through. Not exactly to my taste but not a bad cigar. There are better tasting and more complex cigars available for the same price so I wouldn't buy another one, but I'm sure some people would love it.

I am new to cigars so don?t have a lot of experience and have only smoked a few different brands. I have read reviews and watched You Tube to find out what?s what and this cigar popped up on a top 5 I think. I?ll try and explain the journey. Lit with a soft flame and the smoke omitted wasn?t offensive or unpleasant in any way. First puff was very mild, enjoyable and easy. The first retrohale was floral and not offensive as some have been giving me confidence to do more throughout the smoke. First third was easy going with developing flavours of dark chocolate, light coffee. 2nd third stayed much the same, last third was smooth and delicious chocolate, coffee and mild woody flavour. Retrohale remained floral and didn?t want to put it down. My favourite so far and absolutely recommend to a newby.
