Old Dublin is one of those tobaccos that really grows on you. From the tin, you get a lovely rich tobacco aroma with a subtle sweetness, and once lit it develops into a smooth, satisfying smoke. The flavour is nicely balanced — earthy and slightly sweet with a gentle richness that gives it plenty of character without being overly heavy. It has enough depth to keep things interesting, but it remains an easy tobacco to sit back and enjoy.

Quite possibly my favourite tobacco, not too strong with a nice burn and lovely taste. Peterson usually makes for a quality smoke, but having tried a few of their products, I think Old Dublin is the best.

At the other end of the scale we have Old Dublin, a potent and traditional English style mixture consisting of Virginia, latakia and Oriental Tobaccos. The cold aroma may be a little off-putting for those not too well acquainted with English Mixes, as the latakia is extremely powerful, giving a crazily pungent, smoke and leather aroma. However, this blend may surprise you when lit, as it mellows out incredibly into a beautifully rounded blend. The latakia and orientals are still the main players in the taste, but they harmonise with the Virginia base to give a great, naturally sweet flavour. - Calum
