PARTAGAS

If there is one building in Havana that excites cigar lovers above all others it is the old Partagas factory. You can find it at No. 520 Industria Street, just behind the Capitol building, in the heart of the city.

The factory was opened in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagas and was still operational until just a few years ago. It is now closed with plans to transform it into a cigar museum well under way. The Partagas shop on the ground floor however, remains open and is well worth a visit.

A Partagas is immediately recognisable by its deep, earthy flavour. The character of its blend springs from a selection of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone and chosen for their unmistakable richness of flavour and aroma.

Partagas come in a wide array of shapes and sizes notably the Lusitania and the 8-9-8, a cigar that is named after the way it is arranged in its box.

But perhaps the best known of all Partagas is the Serie D No.4, the robusto size that formed part of the legendary Partagas alphabet series that dates back to the 1930s. In 2005 a Pirámide, the Partagas Serie P No.2, was added to the range, which has fast become the cigar of choice amongst lovers of full-flavoured Havanas. In 2011 the Serie D No.5 and the heavy ring gauge Serie E No.2 extended the alphabet series once again. 2014 saw the most recent addition to the range when the diminutive D.6 was added.

All sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.

A classic Cuban cigar with bold flavors of earth, leather, and a hint of spice. The draw is consistent, and the burn is even. lasted around 25 minutes for me. It's a medium to full-bodied smoke that I always enjoy.

Unfortunately my Petit Coronas Especiales suffered from poor construction at the cap. The wrapper came loose after cutting and by the halfway point it became unpleasant to smoke. The foot was also slightly cracked but it soon corrected itself after lighting. However the half that I did get to smoke properly was really enjoyable, so much so I'd be willing to give it another go.

I received this as a part of my Cuban and new world subscription. The subscription is well worth it in my eyes. The partagas is a delight to smoke perfect burn enjoyed with a coffee

Im fairly new to cigars and this came as part of my Cuban subscription with Cgars which I would 100% recommend as I think its well worth the money. The 1st half started quite nice but burned unevenly, flavours were very light initially and then hit the 2nd half the wrapper was not burning and the binder looked really odd started to get really harsh flavours and then started to feel sick. Initially thought this partagas was going to be one of my favourites but now I feel as sick as a chip! trying to do the sugar under the tongue trick to bring myself back and hoping I dont hug the toilet later!

Starts off rather nice but I found the blend a bit harsh and bitter beyond the mid point / final third... perhaps due to the smaller ring gauge? Smoked well, no issues with draw or construction... but for the money i think the Bolivar Petit Corona is a better stogie if you want a full bodied Havana at roughly the same price and size.
