OLIVA

The Oliva Cigar story began in the late 1800s, when Melanio Oliva started growing cigar tobacco in Cuba. His heirs carried on the family tradition in the fields, but it was his grandson Gilberto Oliva Sr. who began making cigars.

Nicaraguan tobacco helped Oliva survive. The cigar that brought it to the attention of connoisseurs debuted in 2006: Oliva Serie V. Made by a small group of rollers and blended for strength and style, the Serie V line was an immediate hit. In 2012, to pay tribute to the first man in the family to grow cigar tobacco, Oliva added the Melanio version, which is distinguished from the original by its Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The No. 1 Cigar of the Year 2014, Oliva Serie V Melanio Figuarado has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations. It’s a classic smoke.

SERIE G MADURO

Serie G Maduro is a medium body blend made with Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The unique flavour notes of this wrapper are complemented by the natural richness of Nicaraguan fillers. The Serie G Maduro is a cigar with notes of spice and rich cedar. It is a complex cigar crafted for the more developed palate.

Tasting Notes

This flavourful blend exhibits complex tobacco with rich coffee and dark chocolate tones. A subtle and well balanced spice is present throughout. The unique flavor notes of this wrapper are complimented by the natural richness of Nicaraguan Habano fillers.

Smoke was very weak for the first third but got slightly stronger as it burned along. I found this to be really one dimensional and without much flavour or power. I may just have had a bad one but based on that smoke I wouldnt be buying again...

1.5 hours of pure smoking pleasure. Smoke was a little on the weak side near the start but got stronger as it smoked through. The flavour was above medium. It got hot about 1 inch from the end and I stopped about 1/2 inches before the end. Definitely try this cigar of you havent before. And make sure to leave it in the humidor a while
