This is everything I want in a good cigar. Earthiness with a hint of leather and cedar, a good consistent draw right to the end, plenty of smoke and a nice even burn.throughout. Its appearance is unique thanks to the way it’s been packed and it has a lovely dark oily wrapper which has been perfectly rolled and looks exquisite. Lasted well over an hour and never once underperformed. Why would I need Cuban when Yagua is every bit as good. I suppose I am going to have to buy a box of these next to be sure I’m never without. Better start saving cos they’re not cheap but for this quality I wouldn’t expect them to be. The David Tabernacle has been my go to cigar up until now. Now there’s a strong contender!

I was given one of these cigars when I attended the August tasting evening at Cgars Great Yarmouth. At first draw I found it to be very earthy but upon smoking, it became more and more enjoyable. It was an even burn and stayed lit most of the smoke. It had hints of cocca and gave a bitter sweet taste, a lot like a strong dark chocolate. There was peppery overtones and was a very nice smoke. I had it sitting in the garden on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Because of the sweetness of this cigar, It would work well with a whisky that has been matured in sherry casks such as a Lindores Sherry Release Lowlands Single Malt that that I purchased at the event in Cgars in Great Yarmouth or it would pair perfectly with a vintage port. Maybe a full bodied red wine? At the end of the smoke, it stayed constant and did not get too hot as some cigars do. I started towards the end to get notes of cedar and could detect ripe berries. This is why I feel that it would go with a port or full bodied red. It had three distinct caps and would properly be easy to cut, although, and this might upset the purists, I used a punch cutter and the wrapper stayed intact. all in all, a very pleasant and enjoyable cigar. I am no expert, but this is worth the money.

I think these may be my favourite new find of 2024. A great medium to full smoke and I love the individuality of each cigar. I very much hope that Newman continues to roll this limited edition.
