For more than three centuries, Mount Gay Distillery has been the home of quintessential Barbados rum.

Based in St. Lucy at the northernmost tip of the island, every bottle of Mount Gay is produced in much the same way as it was back in 1703.

Using pure, coral-filtered water, the finest molasses and traditional copper pot and copper column stills, Mount Gay continues its legacy of the signature Barbados style, as expertise, history and craftsmanship come together in one of the most sought-after rums on the planet.

Mount Gay Black Barrel is crafted from a blend of intense and aromatic rums, distilled in traditional copper pot and column stills, matured between 3 to 7 years in American whiskey casks, and finished for 6 months in deeply charred Bourbon casks.

Perfect for classic, spirit-forward cocktails such as the Old Fashioned.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma is deep with notes of Rum-raisin cream, vanilla toffee from the Bourbon casks, allspice, and a hint of brown butter.

Palate: On entry, the flavor of gingerbread was warming followed by more toffee and plenty of spices from cinnamon to cracked pepper.

Finish: The finish is long and well balanced between richness, sweet, and spice.
