Montecristo No. 4

Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

Tasting Notes

The draw is excellent, and it is very well constructed. Complex flavours, the last third is a bit stronger but still a very good smoke. One of the top three cigars from this manufacturer.

"...So what if this is the same thing as Cuba’s largest production cigar, the ubiquitous Montecristo No. 4? We have found more often than not in recent years that the breadand- butter smoke of Cuba is of very good to outstanding quality, even if it is made in dozens of factories on the island. Throw it in a tube and you are ready for a night out on the town, without having to take your cigar case. The Montecristo comes in small cardboard boxes of five. The smoke delivers mild yet flavorful tobacco character and it’s quick and easy thanks to its petit corona size, or 5 inch by 42 ring dimension..."

Great after dinner cigar to savour with your wine/coffee. Delightfully smooth with a fantastic mellow aroma make these an ideal cigar to enjoy at any time. Good even burn resulting in 30 to 40 minutes of cigar heaven! written by Michael Chapman

Despite what may have been said about the Monte Petit Tubo's in the past, I have to say that they are very agreeable. Nice aroma and even burn. I found my example to be a milder cigar than other brands i've tried, which is in no way a short coming. All in all a very enjoyable cigar that is suitable for 'every day' smoking. Highly recommended. written by Roon, UK

Very disappointing. Nice firm texture and pleasing nuty armoa but it had an incredibly tight draw. The taste was very “generic” having no subtle aroma or tastes. It was far too harsh and bitter and the burn was uneven. All in all made for a very sub standard smoke, not worth the price. written by Luke
