MONTECRISTO

Montecristo is the best known and probably the most appreciated brand of Havanas throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Havana smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo’, which was a firm favourite when read to the Torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast’s needs.

Whether it is within the classic medium-to-full line, the lighter Open Series or the newer, more powerful, Linea 1935, Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are all created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

OPEN REGATA

When released this was a completely new figurado shape made in the image of the famous No. 2, but shorter and thinner. All the smoking characteristics of its big brother are preserved in a lighter flavoured, less time consuming size.

Tasting Notes

92 / 100

"This little belicoso burns evenly and draws well, showing a cedary smoke with a sweet midpalate and herbal intonations. The cedar lingers on the finish..."

I was dissapointed with this montecristo. Did not feel like i was smoking a cuban cigar, espsecially not a monte but more of a cheap cigar behind the counter in a corner shop. Very sad and will not be smoking this again.feel free to try though.

I know many people say this cigar lacks maturity. I have been smoking it every other day recently, alternating with a Montecriso No 2. True, it is not a No 2, but still a fabulous smoke. The draw is easy, the smoke rich and satisfying with no nasty bitterness. Even near the end, it is pleasing and one of the few cigars I know, that I truly am sad to put out. I love it and urge people to at least try it.

I was realy looking forward to this cigar because of its price, shape and gauge. It is a bit too mellow for me, it did have a good even burn but a strange tase towards the end.
