I would like to start by saying that this is an exceptionally good cigar. I ordered it it multiple times in the past and loved it each time. The reason for bad review is that the one I ordered recently was awful. Not sure if it was just one off or there was a bad batch or some storage issues. The cigar was badly made, there was a thick lump of harden tobacco inside it and it barely smoked. In the end i had to cut it and remove 2/3 to be able to smoke what was left. Wondering if anybody else had such an experience with this cigar.

Ive never smoked this Vitola before but i am back to back testing the Especiales No.2 with cohiba's version on the Especiales.. So far this stick is lovely in the hand. I am a fan of big ring gauges but feel sometimes they can be a bit "bull in a china shop". This is lovely and delicate, a gentleman's smoke if you will... in the hand it feels sophisticated. I am surprised at the huge plooooombs its giving off amd the intense typical monte flavour which seems to be sweeter and more intense than any other Monte i have smoked to date. This is a lovely cigar. The aroma takes over and its quite simply the best Monte for flavour i have had. Def recommend for am evening smoke in the shed, as opposed to the windy park. And i cant wait to try cohibas version if this is anything to go by! 9/10

Nice oily sheen on the wrapper, smelt quite strong and dark before lighting. Quite a tight draw. The first 3rd was strong dark coffee with not too much change. Second third, I got some cinnamon floral flavours mixed in with the strong coffee flavour. Final third became quite spicy and peppery whilst maintaining it's strength. Ash held well and was a nice white colour. Burn time was just over 40 minutes. This was only my 2nd real Monte having tried the number 4 and several packs of the lovely little puritos. Quite an enjoyable smoke which does not receive the full 5 stars due to it's slightly tight draw.

Enjoyed on a Sunday afternoon after a BBQ. Slow burning, smooth cigar. Plenty of flavour, very well constructed, and easy to light & draw. After tastes of wood, leather, and subtle hints of coffee / cocoa. Would definately buy again as a "staple" smoke.

Very surprising amount of flavour and strength in this cigar, I don't mean harshness or overpowering spice from not being matured enough, but in the last half the flavour just becomes very full and rich, creamy, tangy and of course the Monte bitter-sweetness. Some vegetal notes amongst ground coffee, cocoa and vanilla. An extremely elegant cigar which punches above it's weight and develops greatly as it burns down. Complex, rich and delicious :o) written by A. Dyer
