Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

Tasting Notes

A true icon in the world of great Havana cigars. This Mareva expresses the crisp and spicy flavours that we associate so much with Montecristo, it is ideal with an espresso in the afternoon.

"...Though rustic in appearance, this corona has a dead-even burn and lush draw. It's floral and salty with earthy elements and sweeter touches of cocoa powder..."

Generally a nice cigar, above average smoke that lasted about an hour. Draw on the one I had was a bit tight, however it was well constructed and burned evenly. Cigar started off mild, then got spicy and peppery at the mid point. Last third the spice become muted, and some sweetness came through with honey and floral notes developing on the palate. I would have given this 3 & half stars, but rounded it down to 3, because I'm not keen on the spice/peppery notes.

Fantastic little cigar. One of firsts and still one of my favourites. Good draw, good contruction and good burn very consistent. Rather mellow and always leaves me wanting more!

Being new to smoking cubans i can now see what all the postive noise about this cigar is about. Had my first one a couple of days ago and i have only good things to say. Excellent construction, good consistent eay draw and burn with generous mouthfuls of smoke. Started creamy with chocolate, then progressed to nuttiness for the remainder of the smoke. Overall an excllent intro to the world of cubans, shall always try and keep some in the humi!

Wasn't really impressed with this. There are cigars of 'lesser' brands which are just as good for far less. I found it to be a very mediocre smoke.
