One of my favourite brands - the No.4 never fails to impress - nothing too in your face, nothing too bland - just a nice, top quality smoke, exceptionally well made. Not stunning, but quality written by Paul Malam

The jewel in the crown, for Montecristo. Just the right size, reliable draw, medium strength, lingers a bit on the palate... the perfect lunchtime smoke. Great for beginners as well as experienced smokers. written by JM USA

Don`t exactly know about a terrible start - Monte #4`s, like all Montes tends to get "interesting" as you smoke it - they`re not the smoothest stogies in the world, but certainly are ones which grab your attention. The Monte #4 is a damn good petit corona and the ne plus ultra of the Monte line - "most popular Cuban cigar sold". It`s a nice little smoke - starts off spicy, gets earthy and spicy, leather flavours creep in and - it`s highly recommended. Only thing stopping me rating this as a 5 is that I`d tend to compare this to a Monte #2 - unfair, I know - when a #2 is good, it`s unbeatable. When it`s bad..... ahem. The #4`s are totally consistent, for what they are, they`re great, and this has a regular spot in my humi. ;-)Highly recommended, but..... the rough edge just clips half a star off. Four and a half out of five - go smoke some. ;-)) written by Dave Francis
