Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

Please note: Matches not included.

Tasting Notes

A true icon in the world of great Havana cigars. This Mareva expresses the crisp and spicy flavours that we associate so much with Montecristo, it is ideal with an espresso in the afternoon.

"...Though rustic in appearance, this corona has a dead-even burn and lush draw. It's floral and salty with earthy elements and sweeter touches of cocoa powder..."

Once described to me as the table wine of Cuban cigars, I can understand why. They are agreeable to mostly everyone, but will not blow away the experienced smoker. To start off with as a first cuban or an everyday cuban smoke, they are good, but above that they are average. written by mmeadows

A dark/oily cigar with some construction problems. The cigar seems to take a while to get going, and when it does there are hints of leather and chocolate. The draw was ok. It seemed this smoke never really got itself up and going befor it was over. written by Michael

A medium strength mareva with a fairly limited palette of woody flavors and a hint of some darker notes. written by ca

A nice cigar but was a little bitter at times unfortunately. Maybe not mellow enough for me?! written by cmr, uk
