Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

Tasting Notes

This is a rich and flavourful cigar and it burns very well. A bomb of rich spices including cinnamon and a pleasant sweetness emerges throughout the cigar. A great Havana among fine gauges.

The No. 2 ranks at the top for its complexity, yet consistency seems largely hit or miss. These are some of the best - and worst cigars I have ever smoked. written by Pete

A ton of hype goes along with this cigar. Some of it is to be understood, some of it is a little much. No matter what, it is one of the more famous cigars out there, and a good smoke at that. One can see why many enjoy this stick. written by mmeadows

What do I care if a cigar has a hint of this,a splash of that, or an aroma that smells like I have old donkeys in my living room for two weeks. The Montecristo No.2 is one helleva smoke! written by Jon

Like a smile on a dog, I just dont see it. Construction is fine, wrapper always looks great, draw is perfect, only minor burn trouble... but... the smoke always strikes me as average. Better than average. Very good. But not the Holy Grail of Cuban cigars its so often touted as. Agreeable cocoa and wood flavors build to a spicy finish. written by JM USA

I have only smoked one of these, but it was a powerful cigar. It also seemed to be a really tight draw, and between that and the buzz I got, I wasnt that impressed. However, it was not fully aged, and I will try another down the road. written by SLH
