Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

Tasting Notes

Smooth and packed with flavour, excellent draw and burn. Distinguished appearance, bold taste, but a creamy smoke. Quality tobacco in all respect.

90 / 100

"...A slim smoke with a tan wrapper and slightly firm draw. Notes of sweet tea and honey become cedary and tangy with nutty touches of pecan and a slightly salty finish..."

A well made cigar with a nice oily wrapper. However, the burn was a little uneven, and the draw tight. Once you are able to get into the smoke there are rich creamy, very sweet flavors to the smoke, and hints of leather and sweet fruit on the finish. written by Michael

A lovely, smooth, tasty smoke, all the way from beginning to end. Nice even burn. Unfortunately it gave me ripping heartburn to match. written by Andy Mellor, GBR

I wasnt exactly blown away by this cigar tonight after dinner. I found it difficult to maintain an even, smooth burn, to start with. It also became unreasonably hot close to its half. The desire to keep it cool resulted in it going out twice (I dont know if it is just me). Flavour-wise, I sensed some cocoa thrown in there along with a pleasant leathery aroma. Maybe I was just unliky, but so far I believe this Montes construction could be better, because the taste is indeed good. written by Mihai
