This is the 4th and final release in the First Crop of seasonal limited editions, and is the first smoky whisky that the Lochlea Production Director John Campbell has created outside of Laphroaig.
Ploughing Edition’ reflects the season of Winter on Lochlea's farm, when they start to plough the fields in preparation for sowing the barley in Spring. Lochlea has created a warming, smoky version of their signature Lochlea whisky by using a combination of ex-Islay barrels and peated quarter casks.
They've chosen an icy blue label to reflect the bitterly cold and frosty Ayrshire winters.
They are focused on crafting an outstanding whisky for everyone to enjoy. Their local ingredients, process and maturation combine to offer a distinctive style of Scotch whisky that they love and hope you will too.
Nose: Baked fruit with a light peat smoke in the background.
Palate: Old fashioned boiled sweets, more cooked apple and Brazil nuts.
Finish: Lingering fruit and nuttiness, all intertwined with a haze of Islay peat smoke.
