Description Ref # BO2300

The LCDH New Gold Medal cuban cigar opens with a refined aromatic profile on the cold draw, offering notes of fresh cedar, light spice, and earthy undertones. The foot reveals hints of sweet tobacco and nutmeg, inviting a balanced experience right from the start. Upon lighting, the first third delivers a smooth yet assertive flavor with a blend of toasted wood, creamy leather, and subtle peppery spice. The smoke is silky and well-structured, with a medium-full body that pleases without overwhelming.

In the second third, the cigar develops more complexity as flavors evolve into richer tones of cocoa, coffee bean, and mild sweet molasses. The pepper notes soften, allowing a pleasant balance between earthiness and subtle sweetness. The draw remains consistent and the burn steady, showcasing expert craftsmanship. Delicate hints of almonds and caramel add layers to the smoke, enhancing its depth and sophistication.

During the final third, the cigar deepens in intensity with bolder notes of dark chocolate, spiced oak, and a touch of black pepper returning for a gentle kick. The finish is long, smooth, and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of warm earth and toasted nuts. Overall, the LCDH New Gold Medal is a finely balanced Cuban cigar, offering a harmonious blend of strength and elegance suited for smokers who appreciate nuanced flavors with a classic Cuban character.

The History of Bolivar cigars

Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.

The Bolivar cuban cigar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.

It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.

All sizes of Bolivar cigars are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade. It is the brand of choice for enthusiasts who like strong flavours!

LCDH Bolivar New Gold Medal

The Bolivar New Gold Medal measures 6 1/2 inches long by 48 ring gauge, a shape known as Partagas 15 in Cuban cigar factories.

The "New" in the name is to highlight its difference from the cigar simply known as Bolivar Gold Medal, which is the same length but thinner, only 42 ring, before it was discontinued in 2011. Each cigar is wrapped in a regal sheet of golden foil embossed with the repeating Bolivar logo.

La Casa del Habanos Exclusive Cigars

La Casa del Habano, as the franchise network of Habanos S.A. is called, comprises more than 150 tobacco shops specializing in Habanos worldwide. Each one guarantees the best possible service as well as a wide selection of Habanos of different brands and vitolas as well as walk-in humidors with ideal temperature and humidity conditions.

Several productions are exclusively reserved for the La Casa del Habano shops, such as the Colección Habanos and Replica Antigua humidors as well as unique vitolas for certain Habano brands. We are lucky to have three La Casa del Habano franchises, one in Chester, one in Knutsford and one in Edinburgh. This allows us to offer you the full range to C.Gars customers online.

  • Aged Dark Rum (e.g., Ron Zacapa 23, Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva) — its sweetness and smoothness balance the cigar’s earthy spice and chocolate notes.

  • Full-Bodied Single Malt Scotch (e.g., Lagavulin 16, Ardbeg 10) — the smoky peat enhances the cigar’s bold pepper and espresso flavors.

  • Rich Espresso or Ristretto — intensifies the coffee and dark chocolate nuances for a harmonious pairing.

  • Robust Red Wine (e.g., Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon) — the tannins and dark fruit notes complement the cigar’s strength and complexity.

  • Cognac or Armagnac — the smooth, fruity warmth contrasts and enhances the cigar’s earthy richness.

Food Pairings:

  • Dark Chocolate (70% or higher) — heightens the cigar’s cocoa and bittersweet elements.

  • Aged Cheeses — Manchego, aged Gouda, or sharp cheddar to add nutty, umami depth.

  • Spiced Nuts or Charcuterie — items like spiced almonds, chorizo, or Jamón Ibérico bring out the cigar’s peppery and savory notes.

These pairings are crafted to elevate the Bolívar Gold Medal’s full-bodied, nuanced character, making each smoking session an indulgent and memorable experience.

"Solid to the touch, this attractive toro has an excellent draw. It’s a nutty smoke that also leaves impressions of fruit, graham cracker and light chocolate before the long, malty finish. Combustion is slow and cool, forming a solid ash..."
