Description Ref # BO0805

The Bolívar Libertador, an exclusive release for La Casa del Habano, is a majestic Julieta No. 2 vitola (54 ring gauge x 6.5" length) that delivers a luxurious and complex smoking experience. From the cold draw, expect aromas of earth, cedar, and dried fruit, with subtle floral undertones and a hint of spice.

Upon lighting, the first third opens with rich earthiness, black pepper, and bold espresso. The smoke is dense and creamy, with bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans on the palate. A savory, leathery core is supported by mineral notes and a balanced retrohale of pepper and toasted oak.

In the second third, the strength builds slightly, and more nuanced flavors emerge - molasses, cinnamon, and toasted nuts, along with hints of raisin and dried fig. The cigar stays smooth and well-constructed, with a steady burn and firm draw. Spice mellows slightly, and the interplay between sweet and savory becomes more apparent.

The final third brings a resurgence of strength and richness. Deep leather, dark cocoa, and charred wood dominate, while a touch of anise and salinity adds intrigue near the nub. The finish is long, warm, and boldly Cuban - full-bodied yet refined, showcasing the depth and signature power of the Bolívar cuban cigar line in a sophisticated format.

The history of Bolivar cigars

Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.

The Bolivar cuban cigar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.

It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.

All sizes of Bolivar cigars are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade. It is the brand of choice for enthusiasts who like strong flavours!

Bolivar Libertador cigar

Originally released as 'French Regional Edition', which was produced back in 2007. Due to its great success in the markets now produced for La Casa del Habano franchises. The Bolivar Libertador cigar was reintroduced by Habanos for LCDH. Whilst the dimensions are the same, the blend is different. The Bolivar Libertador is an outstanding cigar.

La Casa del Habano Exclusive cigars

  • Aged Dark Rum – Rich, smooth rums like Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva, Ron Zacapa 23, or Havana Club Selección de Maestros mirror the cigar’s molasses, spice, and earthy notes.

  • Peated Scotch Whisky – A bold Islay whisky (such as Lagavulin 16, Ardbeg Uigeadail, or Laphroaig 10) enhances the Libertador’s pepper, leather, and charred wood tones.

  • Cognac or Armagnac – Premium expressions such as Hennessy XO or Delord 25 Year Armagnac offer elegant dried fruit, oak, and vanilla notes that balance the cigar’s intensity.

  • Strong Espresso or Turkish Coffee – Perfect for highlighting the dark chocolate and roasted coffee bean elements in the cigar.

  • Full-Bodied Red Wine – A Malbec, Syrah, or aged Rioja Gran Reserva can stand up to the cigar’s power while enhancing its depth.

Food Pairings

  • Aged Cheeses – Pair with Manchego viejo, Parmigiano-Reggiano, or aged Gouda to complement the cigar’s nutty and savory layers.

  • Grilled or Roasted Red MeatsRibeye steak, lamb chops, or slow-cooked beef short ribs enhance the Libertador’s robust earth and spice notes.

  • Dark Chocolate – Choose high-cocoa content (70–85%) chocolate to echo the cigar’s cocoa and espresso richness.

  • Charcuterie – Dry-cured meats like Jamón Ibérico, bresaola, or smoked chorizo match beautifully with the Libertador’s leathery and umami qualities.

  • Spiced Dishes – Think mole poblano, Moroccan lamb tagine, or BBQ brisket to draw out the cigar’s smoky sweetness and depth.

These pairings are crafted to enhance the Bolívar Libertador cigar’s full-bodied nature and highlight its complex, evolving profile.

"Notes of walnut and roasted coffee bean carry pleasant touches of salt before a warm combination of sugar and spice also develops on the palate..."
