Description

Kohlhase, Kopp & Co is a leading German manufacturer of high quality tobaccos who own many tobacco brands.

They rarely release a pipe tobacco under their own name but when they do, the usually limited edition is something quite special.

Kohlhase & Kopp Pipe 66 is a classic Danish aromatic, comprised of double fermented Black Cavendish strewn with golden Virginia highlights and hand torn broken dark flake.

Tasting Notes

This smooth and cool base tobacco is cased with a sticky and highly fragrant Crème de Cassis casing.

As soon as you open the unbranded tin, you are greeted with sweet and fruity aroma.

Even though this tobacco is a little moister than most aromatics from K&K, it smokes well from the tin, but can benefit from drying out beforehand.

This tobacco is probably the most flavourfull I have ever tasted. The smell on opening the packet is pure blackcurrant. It burns really well considering how moist it is and no relights were needed.. Only a fine grey ash remains at the bottom of the bowl. This is my second purchase of this tobacco so I was disappointed not to get it in the new tin that is shown in the photograph, and it had 2 large warnings on it which are fixed with superglue I think.

Received this today, having preordered a few weeks back. First impressions, the tin is beautiful. Unbesmirched by gruesomely illustrated health warnings, it really is a joy to behold. The tobacco itself looks lovely, with so many nuanced shades, if rainbows were brown, this would be one. The aroma coming from the tin is really quite gorgeous. There’s something sweet, ripe, and very inviting about it. In the pipe it lights easily, despite a fair level of moisture. I dried out a portion for about an hour, and it lit perfectly. It did not need a single relight all the way to the end. It burns evenly and slightly quicker than I expected, however I was outside and it was windy. The flavour and aroma carry through the tin-note nicely. A sweet and mellow smoke with no tongue bite. I can’t comment on the room note as I was outdoors, but I can’t imagine it would be anything other than great. A very enjoyable tobacco, and once again, great service from Cgars.
