Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey has a rye content believed to be just above the legal minimum of 51% which places it between a high-rye bourbon and a pure rye.
 
Bottled at 100 US Proof (50% abv), this came to the market in 2012 after a long wait following its popular release in the USA.
 
Instead of corn as the master grain, it is high quality rye. Knob Creek Rye is still made in small batches, and aged in the deepest charred barrels and bottled at a full 100 proof to maintain a big flavour.
 
Its high corn mashbill makes it perfect for the bourbon drinker looking to add a rye to their liquor cabinet.
 
Just ask the judges of the 2019 International Spirits Challenge, who awarded a silver medal to the Knob Creek Rye in the American Straight Rye Whiskey category.
 

Tasting Notes

Nose:  Expansive notes of herbs and rye with nuances of oak.

Palate: Bold rye spiciness with undertones of vanilla and oak.

Finish: Warm and smooth with spice throughout.

Very rich! Not that I was complaining. A very inviting rye which looks and tastes the part!
