JOYA DE NICARAGUA

50 years ago, Joya de Nicaragua pioneered an industry by crafting the first cigars to ever come out of Nicaragua. Today, they are thriving like never before, thanks to their skilful and resilient people. For JDN, quality is not an obligation, it is their highest commitment.

FLOR DE NICARAGUA COLORADO

From the Jewel of Nicaragua comes the Flower of Nicaragua. The Sacuanjoche is the national flower of Nicaragua. A delicate but powerful symbol that represents the soul and origin of Joya De Nicaragua as the most Nicaraguan cigar factory.

Indescribably complex, this cigar will satisfy the most selective palates.

Tasting Notes

This medium to full bodied smoke begins with a rich spicy flavour and develops into a mellower smoking experience. Subtle wood and leather combine in this medium bodied, creamy smoke. Hints of spice and dried fruit linger.

This Joya perfectly captures the bold, earthy character that Nicaraguan cigars are known for. As someone still learning the nuances of cigar profiles, I’ve found Joya to be one of the most consistent and rewarding brands to explore. Every cigar in their range feels thoughtfully made, with reliable construction and a clear sense of identity. The overall flavor profile leans toward rich, full-bodied notes—earth, spice, coffee, and cocoa—balanced by subtle sweetness and depth. Even their lighter offerings, like the Cabinetta, carry a distinct Nicaraguan warmth, while blends such as the Red, Black, and Antaño showcase increasing layers of strength and complexity. What stands out most is how each cigar seems to build upon the next, offering a clear path of progression for anyone developing their palate. Draws are typically smooth, the smoke output generous, and the burn performance consistently reliable. Joya cigars invite you to slow down and appreciate the craftsmanship behind every leaf. For me, the brand represents confidence and authenticity—bold flavors without pretense, and quality that never feels inaccessible. Rating: 8/10

Flawless construction, wrapper is quite veiny but nice looking and oily to touch, nice cold draw with just a touch of resistance using a guillotine cut. Probably the sharpest burn I've seen in a long time, absolutely razor sharp. Ash holds on for 2-3cm revealing a perfect cone, zero relights or corrections needed. Somke is a touch thin but lovely and cool, fairly straightforward flavour with spicy black pepper upfront alongside wood and leather, some subtle sweetness in the background, no strength and light to low medium body. A absolute steal at this price point.
