JOYA DE NICARAGUA

50 years ago, Joya de Nicaragua pioneered an industry by crafting the first cigars to ever come out of Nicaragua. Today, they are thriving like never before, thanks to their skilful and resilient people. For JDN, quality is not an obligation, it is their highest commitment.

CABINETTA

Joya Cabinetta is different. It brings out the best of two different wrappers in one cigar. It was expressly blended with mellower, medium bodied Nicaraguan fillers that deliver a smoother; more refined smoking experience.

Tasting Notes

A myriad of taste and aromatic sensations can be detected in its creamy smoke. Each cigar’s head is finished with a swath of sun-grown Criollo that adds just the right touch of peppery linger to the intricate taste profile of these finely crafted cigars.

This cigar immediately caught my attention with its dual wrapper—the creamy Ecuadorian Connecticut on top and Nicaraguan binder/filler underneath. For a newer smoker like me, the Cabinetta was both approachable and exciting. The first few draws were creamy and light, with subtle hints of sweetness and toasted nuts. As I progressed, more earthy and woody notes came forward, along with that signature Joya spice, though much softer than some of their bolder blends. The burn was steady, and I enjoyed the visual appeal of the two-toned wrapper burning down. About halfway in, it became more complex: cream mixed with a little cocoa and hints of leather. It’s medium-bodied at most, which makes it perfect for someone like me who doesn’t want to be overpowered but still wants character in the smoke. The aroma was very pleasant—sweet and nutty rather than strong or heavy. Overall, this felt like a cigar designed to bridge the gap between mild and strong smokes, offering enough flavor to keep me engaged without overwhelming my palate. It’s also just a fun-looking cigar to smoke, and I think that added to my enjoyment. Rating: 8/10

This is a really excellent cigar! The taste is very good, smooth at first and finishing really well when it gets down to the darker wrapper at the end. I have bought four, smoked three and have just ordered another four. I finished this one in about 45 minutes, sitting in the august sunshine with a negroni. Superb!

Wonderful smoke, as soon as cut could tell the draw was superb (unlike the last 3 Romeos i’ve tried!)...the burn was slightly uneven but overall a superb cigar with a lovely medium strength and great light but complex taste that I would definitely recommend!!

Delicious smoke. Full of creamy flavours from the Connecticut wrapped barrel with a sweet Maduro wrapped head. Even taste throughout with bangs of sweetness when the Maduro wrapper starts to burn. I had a solid 90 minute smoke which was so relaxing on this fine Easter afternoon. This was my first outdoors in the sun smoke of the year and I was very happy. IÂ’m straight over to buy half a dozen more.

Floral, slightly earthy, slight tobacco/Connecticut, sweet from the dark wrapper. Changing flavours throughout. Held back by some bitterness though. Smoked it as far as I could, well into the dark wrapper. Very nice even burn. This is a well constructed cigar. Good value for the size.
