I have smoked these quite often because of the low price and reasonable quality. On a visit to the new partagas factory in Cuba I found out that most Jose l. Piedra cigars are in fact rolled by rollers in training and this would explain the great variety found in these and other Jose l piedra cigars usually one or two cigars out of a carton are bad but the vast majority are good and can compete with some of the more expensive vitolas and brands, usually a good smoke.

@ Alistair: The £3.99 cigar you refer to is the petit Cazadores and not the full sized ones here.

Time to eat some humble pie. While on holiday on the Island of Kos at the start of this month, I visited a well stocked tobbaconist to supplement the 'holiday' supply I'd bought from CGars. 5 Siglo 1's and a few others were chosen. Then I saw the Piedra Cazadores at €4 each. I decided to buy one for a smoke as I had a coffee nearby. After my al fresco herf, I went back and bought 10 more and every one (I'm smoking the last one as I write) has been perfect! I was clearly unlucky the last time, and I feel I was a little hasty to judge. After all, if the quality control is not as stringent, some bad 'uns will slip through the net. I, like so many others, have had bad examples of more expensive well known brands. So, basing this on individual experiences, they get 5 stars. When they're good, they're bloody good!

I bought 5 of these along with 5 Nacionales and 6 Petit Cazadores, and was very disappointed with the Cazadores. None of them burned evenly and the draw was very poor. This is the second time I've bought this cigar, the first being very successful. I don't think, however, that after 4 bad cigars out of 5, I'll waste time on these again. The Nacionales and Petit Cazadores were much better.

I haven't personally tried these, yet. I did notice though (and correct me if I'm wrong, maths isn't my strong point) that as singles these go for £3.99 but in a bundle of 25 they work out at at £5.80 each! Is this right or is it a pricing error?
