The fourth in this much talked about limited edition series, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Pittyvaich, draws on rare casks from the legendary Speyside “ghost” distillery of Pittyvaich, a hidden treasure of the whisky world, which closed its doors in 1993 after only 19 years.
For many years these irreplaceable casks of maturing whisky have been carefully watched over by Johnnie Walker Master Blender, Jim Beveridge, and his small team of expert whisky makers.
This limited edition is their opportunity to shine a light on the distinct autumnal flavours that can be found in Johnnie Walker Blue Label through the exceptionally rare character of Pittyvaich.
Serving Suggestion: Best enjoyed neat, alternating with sips of iced water on the side.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet fruit notes of fresh apple, gathering with the autumnal flavours of Pittyvaich.
Palate: It’s a beautifully balanced whisky, with the delicate subtle sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood from the ghost whiskies of Port Dundas and Carsebridge. Other very rare whiskies bring aromas of dark fruit and berries.
Finish: A gentle butterscotch, stewing orchard fruits and a dash of cinnamon.
