The Chinkapin joins Isle of Raasay distillery's core range as the third permanent single malt.
Bottled at 50.2% ABV; this lightly peated whisky marries peated and unpeated spirit; fully matured in fresh and refill Chinkapin oak casks.
Chinkapin oak is a North American oak species rarely seen in Scotch maturation. Heavily charred with a high toast; these casks dial up barbecue richness; toasted wood; and fragrant spice.
Using both fresh and refill casks reins that intensity in just enough; allowing the distillerys fruit-driven character to shine through the smoke.
Nose: Wood smoke and rich dark fruits.
Palate: BBQ glaze, honey, bright lime, cinnamon and smoked ham.
Finish: Sandalwood and lingering fragrant smoke.
