The Hoyo de Monterrey Depute might be one of my favorite Cuban so far. It’s often described as light in strength but rich in flavor, and I found that to be spot on. From the first puff, I was met with a creamy smoothness, with flavors of cedar, honey, and a touch of floral sweetness. It felt elegant and approachable, never overpowering but always interesting. The construction was excellent—an even burn, perfect draw, and plenty of smoke. Midway, the flavors opened up more, with hints of nuts and a subtle citrus note that added freshness. The aroma was beautiful too—sweet, woody, and inviting. I really enjoyed how this cigar managed to stay light yet complex; it never felt flat or boring, and it was easy to smoke slowly and savor. By the final third, it developed a little more spice and depth, rounding off the experience nicely. For me, this is the kind of cigar that feels timeless—refined, smooth, and always enjoyable. It’s the one I’d recommend to any beginner who wants to experience Cuban quality without being overwhelmed. Rating: 9/10

Reviewing again as the second one I have just smoked was delicious. Fairly tight draw but it worked with this small stick. Great flavours and a highly enjoyable 30 minutes

Im only recently getting into cigars. I must have been unlucky but the cigar was completely plugged at the foot. I looked for tips online on how to improve a tight drag. A paperclip poked through the end was suggested but the draw remained tight no matter how many times I inserted the paperclip to try and unplug it. A shame really as I was looking forward to this smoke...

Nice little afternoon smoke. Perfectly rolled with even burn and fair amount of smoke given the tiny size. I punch cut it to add a bit of strength so did not feel too light. Cannot pinpoint the flavours but overall very pleasant. Personally prefer a small partagas or bolivar but well worth a try

Received this as part of a Cigars.Ltd sampler pack. Nice little smoke. Smooth, not too strong. Nice taste. Quite tightly rolled. Burned evenly. Not a lot of smoke in the mouth. Wrapper not too sweet. Little bit of spice on the retro. Not earthy or woody taste but Difficult to define. Just a pleasant tasting 40 minute smoke.
