Behind the scenes of ‘Success Story’. The Havana Club Collection of exclusive ceramic items is the result of a long standing partnership between Havana Club International and Jean Baudot, French journalist and publisher. The story starts in Havana in 1995, with the publication if the Havana Club Collection of books illustrating the history and originality of Cuban rum, in partnership with Havana Club International (HCI), a joint subsidiary of Pernod Ricard and the Cuban company Cubaron.

In 1997, Jean Baudot and his publishing firm, Cara Cara Edition, designed an ashtray for cigar smokers, with lines inspired by 1950s promotional objects. Following the complex technical development of an initial product, which included the process to display the Havana Club brand in de-enamelled, embossed letters, the first item was manufactured –El Egoista, an ashtray for an individual cigar.
