The distillery in the Forgue valley in Aberdeenshire is named after the source of its water, the Dronac burn.
It has a history of enterprising owners from the flamboyant James Allardice , who founded the distillery, to the ambitious Walter Scott.
Although times have moved on the processes used to create the GlenDronach have remained largely unchanged.
Today’s malt is created using great Oregon pine washbacks and the same shaped stills used in 1826.
A bottle of Glendronach 22 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
This was distilled on 18 November 1994, where for over 22 years this amazing Single Malt from Glendronach has been matured in their warehouses in a single Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon.
It has been bottled without the addition of water, at a hefty 53.2% ABV and is packed to the brim with spicy fruit character.
Bottled in November 2016 exclusively released in the UK,
Nose: Mixed peel and stem ginger syrup give a fresh balance to dark raisins and sour plums.
Palate: Rich dark chocolate floods over richly stewed plums and prune syrup.
Finish: Similar to the palate, the rich fruits are contrasted by crisp orange zest and vibrant oak spices.
