‘Sinteis’ (pronounced sin-teesh) meaning ‘synthesis’ in Scottish Gaelic, embodies cask creativity as two bold yet complementary wood types are merged to concoct unparalleled expressions.
Combining single malt matured in Oloroso Sherry casks with spirit from French virgin oak barrels, this 2014 vintage unveils indulgent layers of dark chocolate and roasted coffee entwined with nutmeg and gentle oak warmth.
The GlenAllachie Distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside, has built a reputation for producing rich, complex single malt whiskies. Established in 1967, it remained relatively under the radar until it was acquired by industry veteran Billy Walker in 2017.
Under his guidance, Glenallachie has flourished, focusing on traditional methods, innovative cask finishes, and meticulous attention to detail.
The distillery is renowned for its use of a wide variety of casks, including American oak, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which contribute to its signature depth and flavour complexity.
Bottled at a cask strength of 57.4% ABV, natural colour and non chill filtered, the true character of the spirit shines through.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Intense mocha, grilled honeycomb, sun-dried red berries, cinnamon butter, toasted lemon peel, and muscovado sugar.
Palate: Heather honey, bright citrus, cinnamon butter, ginger snaps, poached orchard fruits, and vanilla buttercream,.
Finish: Medium-long, with warming spice, dark chocolate, nutmeg, and dry, slightly nutty oak.
