Description

A special bottling Glen Mhor that was distilled in 1965 while the distilled was still owned by Mackinlay & Birnie, the original owners

Left to mature, until being bottled in 1997 by Independent Bottlers Gordon & MacPhail who also released 1965 spirit in 2000 and 2003.

Founded in 1895 Gordon & MacPhail have been bottling single malt whiskies for 120 years and by the 1950s they held the largest range of bottled malt whiskies in the world.

This family run business have bottled the oldest single malt whisky in the world as well as being distillers themselves after buying Benromach in 1993.

Another victim of the 1983 cull, Glen Mhor has perhaps the best reputation of the Inverness distilleries that survived until the 1980s (The Inverness Three?).

Founded by John Birnie in 1894 when he was refused shares in Glen Albyn, it was the first distillery to use a Saladin box for their malting needs.

Please note as this is a vintage bottle, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - Some years can vary as estimations only (example: estimated 1970s/80s).

Tasting Notes

These old Glen Mhors like this 1965 vintage are full of green fruits, clean oak, spice, subtle notes of chocolate, leather, coffee, smoked meats, resin, sackcloth and often a little peat.
