Rich dark flake (often referred to as “RDF”) is a perennial favourite among the pipe smoking community and  Germain’s take on this classic is seen as the standard bearer. As a loyal samuel gawith smoker, i enjoy all there flake and cut plug, always excellent, i thought id give germains a try, heard a lot about them. Well this stuff knocks the ball out of the park! Certainly rich, definately dark, the pouch note to me is of chocolate liquer, dates, figs. A thin cut flake, rubs out well, packs and lights easily, smoking it is a delight, very very smooth, mild/medium, the flavour is rich and nutty, sweet too. Every pipe smoker worth there salt has to try this, its a posh bobs choc if you like! Wonderful.
