Undercrown is a statement. It is the reward for hard work, dedication to craft and teamwork. You know the story, originally created by our torcedores who had to cut back on their in-take of Liga’s, they banded together and created a cigar for their own daily consumption.

Since our humble beginnings in 1998, we have demonstrated to the world that no premium cigar company better understands its people, the regular common folk, who are the true living fabric of the production floor and factory setting. We believe that the production floor is the crossroads between art & passion – and where the real magic takes place to create the most authentic smoking experience every single day.

Drew Estate Master Blender Willy Herrera has gone back to the team and asked them to do it again. This time they discussed the crafting of a unique medium bodied line extension that is creamy, lush & ultrasmooth. Which only a Shade wrapper could deliver. While others would easily sell you a simple, inauthentic wrapper swap, our Torcedores would have none of that.

Back to basics, from the ground up is their way and they dug deep to ultimately create a majestic blend of select vintage Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, finished off with a flawless Shade wrapper that delivers satisfaction in spades. And so it is with great bravado that we share Undercrown Shade and the continuing story from our factory floor.

In early 2009 Drew Estate asked their torcedores to smoke less Liga Privada cigars because they were leaving too few to be exported. This request was met with the disappointment you would expect, but rather than being disgruntled they responded by blending their own signature liga.

Incorporating many of the same rare tobaccos, but of different vintages and primings, the cigar they created was no mere replacement. Rather it is an exceptional smoking experience of uncompromising quality and flavour that deserves to be smoked by all.

It is always the master makers who are heralded, but the reality is that great cigars are the product of many talented people, most of whom toil in factories with no publicity ever. They are the uncelebrated heroes who make all of our lives more pleasurable with the cigars they craft. And therefore, it is with great pleasure that we are now sharing their factory floor creation with you as Undercrown, borne of our worker’s ingenuity, resourcefulness and passion for a great cigar.

A small cigar perfect for lighting up when time is short. This size is produced for only one other Habanos, Hoyo de Monterrey, where it is called Le Hoyo du Depute. Enjoy its delicate flavour for around twenty minutes.
