FACTORY SMOKES

Manufactured at La Gran Fabrica in Esteli, Nicaragua, Factory Smokes by Drew Estate aren't 'seconds' or 'training cigars'. They are made by the same buncheros and rolleros who handroll all of Drew Estate's premium cigars and they meet the same stringent quality checks. Economically priced, smooth, consistent and reliable, Factory Smokes are a handmade, value priced line of cigars.

From the Wynwood Safehouse, Jonathan Drew, Founder & President of Drew Estate 'Our expansion in the bundle business was a decision we did not take lightly. Bundles aren't glamorous and the efficiency required to produce them effectively is not easily reached, which is why there aren't a ton of entrants innovating in the value priced space. This is long overdue for Drew Estate, and when we reached the production scale required to compete we knew we wanted to do what we do, and disrupt the space with an innovative, deep line of quality smokes for a broad set of thrifty individuals'

CT SHADE

Composed of a Connecticut shade-grown wrapper, Indonesian binder and Nicaraguan & Indonesian filler, Factory Smokes CT Shade has a smooth and creamy profile. This cigar has notes of white and black pepper with hints of Spanish cedar.

I'm easing my way back into cigars after a on/off 10 year hiatus. I don't smoke anymore so they sort of fell to the wayside and bar a few sticks in holiday over the years I've not really indulged. Since the price of Cubans has gone up quite a lot in the last 10 years I decided to dip my toe in the 'New World' arena of smokes. This cigar was my first try and I was very pleasantly surprised. First off, clearly been stored perfectly. It was springy yet firm to the touch and smelt great. On first light it was quite bitter and I could tell that there was an underlying flavour there but the bitterness was rather over powering. However, after about 5 mins the cigar completely changed and became almost toffee/caramel tasting and really got better the further down I smoked it. The last third was powerful and rich, very woody with hints of earth and tasted like I was smoking nature, which was incredible. I have another one with the darker wrapper which I'll have at a party next week. I only hope it is as good.

First third main flavour is tobacco and black coffee and to me is closer to a medium cigar than mild and feels good to hold and easy to smoke and holds the ash real well. Second third and the taste and smell stays the same but with a little added woodiness and a little more mellow than the first third. After 60 minutes its time to remove the band and the flavours stay the same with an even burn and good ash retention of over 1inch. I smoked this to the nub and in the last few minutes there was an added pepperiness to the existing flavour. I am a leisurely smoker and finally after 80 minutes it was laid to rest. If you want a decent hour plus smoke with no relighting and no unravelling this is a must to keep a few when you just want to grab an easy and satisfying smoke at an affordable price.
