DIPLOMATICOS

Introduced in 1966, as essentially a second value line of the Montecristo brand, Diplomaticos were primarily aimed at the French market. One of the few Havana brands which is exclusively devoted to handmade cigars, the sizes and names essentially mirror the Montecristo nomenclature and the Diplimaticos line is produced at the Jose Marti factory, as is most of the Montecristo range.

Medium to full flavours throughout, the Diplomaticos No. 2 is one of the best day time piramides made.

Tasting Notes

With characteristic dark wrappers, medium flavour, light to medium strength one of the best day time piramides made.

----

90 / 100

"The wrapper of this well-rolled pirámide is the color of mocha. It draws and burns evenly, showing subtle notes of honey, orange marmalade and cedar. A graham cracker note precedes the mineral finish..."

Just getting to the middle of the box recently purchased and I could not be more pleased. An excellent smoke that is just bold enough. Very consistent and rich taste. written by Josh

A nice smoke. From what I remember, the Diplomaticos range was introduced to produce Montecristo shapes at a lower price. Construction is extremely good - though not up to Monte standards. The #2 torpedo is not as complex as a (good) Monte #2, but it`s a fine earthy smoke, flavoursome and - as Mitch says - light to medium strength. Not something you`d have after a heavy meal, but a nice daytime smoke nonetheless. I enjoyed mine, but I`d prefer a Vegas Robaina or Monte, to be honest. The qualifier to that is that both the Robaina and Monte are eighty quid more a box- and for the money, thr Diplomaticos range represents excellent value. written by Dave Francis
