Bunnahabhain 1980 Canasta - 49.5% 70cl

Bunnahabhain was once ruled by the sea; until 1960, all our deliveries arrived by boat.

Today, the waves bring a very different cargo – crew and passengers venturing ashore, often from stunning ocean-going yachts. Their destination: our famously welcoming Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky.

The 1980 Canasta Cask Finish breathed in our briny coastal air for almost four decades, first in casks that held oloroso sherry, then in perfectly sweet Canasta sherry oak — the very essence of our coastal distillery.

Only 1,200 bottles have been produced, each one at a cask strength of 49.5% abv and housed in a beautiful wooden presentation case with a quilted leather interior.

Limited to 1 per customer. 

Nose: Notes of rich oak, dried fruit, figs, raisins and sultanas, balanced with treacle toffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla.

Palate: Rich oakiness balanced with sweet dried fruit, treacle toffee, black coffee and cocoa, and roasted nuts, with a hint of coastal brininess.

Finish: Dry but lingering sweet fruit and oak.
