BOLIVAR

Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.

The Bolivar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.

It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.

All sizes of Bolivar are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade. It is the brand of choice for enthusiasts who like strong flavours!

CORONA J

A small cigar with a respectable 42 ring gauge that makes it an option even after a rich dinner if time to smoke is limited.

Tasting Notes

Typical Bolivar flavour, and whilst it is not as strong as the larger ring gauge Corona Extra and Royal Corona, this is still a very fine smoke.

"Pressed and petit, this little cigar has an ample draw that loads the palate with big notes of cedar and oak complemented by touches of walnut, dried apricot and stone before an oaky, white-wine finish..."

Good burn, good draw but very bland. The smaller Tubos #3 has more flavour. I found this one to be mild and tasteless to my palate. This would probably suit someone new to cigars where they are able to notice it more and wont be an assault on their senses, maybe?

Mine was quite an ugly example being varied in colour and veiny. The foot was packed very loosely. Burned ok, pretty bland and that was that really. I love the bigger Bolivars but can't recommend this one due to price. It's a £4 smoke not £8. You can get better for half the price from Dominica or Nicaragua. In my opinion even the little Arturo Fuente cubanitos are far superior to this cigar.

I was very disappointed with this cigar. I kept it in the humidor for 6 months before sparking it up and I found it to be quite bland. A bit of woodiness and leather tannins but little else. Certainly not awful, just incredibly boring and rather forgettable.

Totally plugged, tried everything to rescue it but unsmokeable, what little flavour ( and believe me it was very little) I did get was uninspiring and one dimensional. Very disappointed, will not buy again :-(
