This is a beautifully unusual cigar. Well worth adding the one or two to your order without feeling bad about the price. One for the Cigar Diary keeper, for sure..
The first thing you notice before lighting is the sweetness of the wrapper, which tastes like its been coated in a natural sugar. But bear with it and you will be rewarded. Ive had much more expensive cigars at this size that offer way less. 1/4 down and the sweetness becomes an aroma. If you dont like this during the smoke, a few wipes with your lips will tame this quicker.
Just before and then as you light, you notice complex aromas and then taste of expensive fruity African coffee, textiles, chocolatey caramel and some sort of exotic fruit. The burn and ash was perfectly uniform, maybe a little quicker burning than other cigars this size, but stayed lit and smoked cool to a nice peppery yet happy end in about 30 minutes of steady smoking. The composition was great, effortless draw and held its perfect form right to the finish.
In terms of value, UK prices wise anyway, in this range, I think this is hard to beat. Some will just hate them and thats fine. But for those who are open minded and like something complex and new for a change, these are great.
Im sure youll get the odd bad one. But these are as good for me as the Maduro Davidoff Primeros, once the sugar comes off the wrapper and the smooth quality flavour is unlocked that is. 85/100
