"A most pleasing smoke for the novice as well as the experienced cigar smoker"
- Mitchell Orchant

Tasting Notes

The blend is perfectly balance: Medium strength and medium to full flavour.

A sweet and satisfying smoke from the first to the last puff with no aggression or bitterness, filled with notes of dark chocolate in the first third, cedar notes in the middle third and rich spice in the last third.

Sorry, but this was an awful smoke. Previously I have had the Mitchellero Novellini cigars, which I have happily given 5 stars, but this Picadillo was so loosely packed that is was almost half a cigar. After a short time of smoking the burn was so uneven that when one side was 1 cm of ash, the other was at 2.7 mm. I have a second cigar still to smoke, which I hope will be better and will report upon it again, but looking at other reviews this appears to be a common problem with the Picadillo, so I am not optimistic. CGars might like to check some of their stock to see what they think of it.

For the price this is a decent cigar, mild to medium strength, more on the spicey Flavour. Better then some that cost more.

Ordered 2 of these as I had previously ordered Mitchellero Robustos which were a fantastic smoke. Ive just finished the 1st one and can only say it was dissapointing. The burn was even and the taste was equally as good as the Robusto but the construction is poor. I should have left the label on as it was the only thing holding the wrapper together. Between trying to keep it together and picking bits from my mouth it was not an enjoyable experience. My only hope is that the 2nd will change my mind about these.

Straight away from the light up, a plume of smoke from an easy draw offering a nice creamy dark cocoa flavour. The start of the second third maintained a little cocoa still as well as a little cedar. Around half way through the cigar (deep into the 2nd third) it developed into a subtle woodsy (light cedar) flavour, offering a slight pepper note on the back of the tongue. The final third finished with a light pepper/spice right down to the nub. A nice, sturdy construction. The ash remained until the final third before dropping off. Very easy draw offering plenty of smoke. Fantastic flavour and development throughout the smoke, at no point turning bitter or harsh. Thoroughly enjoyed this cigar right down to the nub, will definitely purchase more to sit in my humidor!

Bought this as the Torcedor wasnt available, I love the Mitchellero blend and because I wanted to explore some other short cigars as the days get colder. I gravitate towards coronas as my perfect vitola, so larger ring gauges are not my preference. So pretty much as soon as it crossed my lips (or should I say wedged them wide open) I knew this wouldnt necessarily be my favourite. That said, there was nothing wrong with it. Burnt well, the taste was definitely agreeable, and the ash held up right until where the middle of band had been. I guess Im a corona man. Coincidentally I had come across a discussion on increasing ring gauges a week or so prior where Mitchell Orchant had described himself as an old boy for preferring the smaller gauges. Im a little bit younger, but I guess Im an old boy too. Still, if you want a short smoke and you like fifty-plus ring gauges then at this price you simply cannot lose. For that it gets a four despite my personal preferences. Another great Mitchellero.
